Florence, celebrated in the world for its Renaissance splendour, hides a widely unknown dark past, a forbidden side which made it famous among the unrepentant sinners of the 15th century. In addition to forbidden and lustful love affairs, the city was also the location of terrible murders, harrowing torture and horrifying death sentences.
Our evening walk will cover these uncertain paths starting from Piazza Pitti, in front of what was the city palace of the Medici family. This is where GianGastone, the last heir to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, spent his days in complete libertarianism, indulging in his vices.
We will then proceed towards the palazzo of Bianca Cappello, the beautiful and tormented mistress of the Grand Duke Francesco I, in order to discover the details of their mysterious demise. Once we come to Santa Trinita, the location of stories relating to the most influent families of the city, we shall enter the alleys of medieval Florence, where we will revisit the legendary origins of the wars between the Guelfs and the Ghibellines. Our tour will end in Piazza della Signoria, not just the political center of the city, as the square was the stage for various blood-drenched episodes.
